Company History
Saunders Global has evolved from one of Australia’s most innovative and leading environmental branding agencies to a specialist retail architectural consultancy, responsible for developing many of the leading brands in Australia and having a proven track record of enduring successful designs, from banking to telecommunications, department and specialty stores and retail chains.
The Saunders Group was initially established in the UK in 1979 and grew to be the third largest retail brand agency in London. Saunders were commissioned with projects around the world from Europe to USA and Asia and were responsible for many iconic brand developments such as Hamley’s toy store, Canary Wharf in the Docklands, Bentall’s Department Store, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports and A.S. Watsons pharmacies in Hong Kong amongst many others... brands that are still thriving to this day. In 1987 Saunders were sold to the advertising conglomerate WCRS and Paul Saunders, the then Managing Director, worked out his contract and emigrated to Sydney, Australia to launch Asia Pacific. Saunders Global was established in 1990 establishing offices in Sydney, Adelaide, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Decades of experience in retail, from small scale to large store formats has given Saunders the edge to its competitors when it comes to understanding retail planning and forecasting. From the designing of department stores came the obvious extension into the planning and design of shopping centres themselves. Saunders Global have a solid track record of designing successful shopping centres, from new build to extensions and refurbishments, from bulky good centres to sophisticated city centre projects.
